Wedding Suit Blue Contrast Linen Waistcoat

A bespoke summer wedding suit in blue wool and linen, tailored for elegance, comfort, and lasting versatility

A Summer Wedding Suit in Balance: Bespoke Blue Wool and Linen

This bespoke three-piece wedding suit was created using a combination that feels both classic and refreshing. The jacket and trousers are made with a lightweight blue wool from the Crispaire collection by Holland & Sherry, while the waistcoat – and the matching bow tie – are crafted from a tan herringbone linen by Huddersfield Fine Worsteds. Together, they form a harmonious ensemble that looks elegant without being stiff, and is perfectly suited for a summer wedding.

Structure and Breathability in Blue Wool

The choice for the 280g Blue Contrast Wool from the Crispaire collection is a deliberate one: this fabric combines a strong structure with breathability. The open weave and slight crispness in the yarn ensure the suit remains comfortable even in warmer temperatures, while the colour is rich enough to look elegant in photographs or evening light.

The jacket is made with a two-button closure, notch lapels, and straight pockets. The pockets have a flap that can be worn either in or out – a detail that responds to the desire to wear the wedding suit in various settings beyond the ceremony. The sleeves feature working cuffs with four kissing buttons, with the last buttonhole hand-stitched in a colour that echoes the waistcoat. This single accent gives the suit a subtle personal touch without being loud.

A Linen Waistcoat as a Light and Calming Contrast

The waistcoat is not only a functional part of the wedding suit, but also offers a moment of visual calm. The selected fabric is a 400g tan herringbone linen from the Casual Irish Linen collection by Huddersfield Fine Worsteds. The material brings a natural texture that complements the smooth wool of the jacket without competing with it. The herringbone is fine enough to appear subtle from a distance, yet adds just the right amount of interest up close.

The waistcoat has no lapels, five buttons, and a back panel made from the same linen fabric as the front – no satin or contrast material, just a consistent flow. This choice reinforces the relaxed, summery character of the ensemble. A matching bow tie was also made from the same fabric, tying the elements together naturally without looking overly styled.

For Now and Later

Although this suit was made specifically for a summer wedding, it was carefully composed so that the elements can also be worn separately. The waistcoat pairs beautifully with more casual outfits in spring or summer, while the jacket – thanks to its versatile blue hue – works well with grey or cream-coloured trousers. This way, the wedding suit becomes more than just a memory: it becomes part of a lasting wardrobe.

At De Oost, we aim to create garments that tell the personal story of the wearer, without resorting to superficial styling. The strength lies in the composition: high-quality materials, a thoughtful balance between colour and texture, and subtle details that don’t demand attention but reveal themselves upon closer inspection.
